"Well, it's Rock ...Rock ...Rock Billy Boogie!!!"

Welcome To The New Official Homepages Of

Rockabilly King ROCKY BURNETTE

Ever since hitting the international Top Ten charts with the smash hit "Tired Of Toein' The Line,,"... ROCKY BURNETTE has continued to thrill sell-out concert audiences around the world with what Ronnie Dawson, and most other experts, call "The Best Rockabilly Voice Today!"

Rocky when he burst on the charts.
His EMI debut album called him "The Son Of Rock And Roll," with good reason. His heritage is that of Rock'n Roll's First Family. As the first born son of Rock'n Roll pioneer JOHNNY BURNETTE, toddler Rocky's butt-shakin' stage-style antics with cousin BILLY BURNETTE while their fathers' JOHNNY BURNETTE ROCK'n ROLL TRIO rehearsed at home, resulted in the song named "Rock Billy Boogie," that named an entire genre of vitalized new music during the birth years of Rock And Roll.

With his First major hit record, "Tired Of Toein' The Line," ROCKY put himself and father JOHNNY into a Very Elite group where both parent and child had individually made the national Top Ten charts. Previously limited to such showbiz names as Sinatra, Cole, Thomas and Boone, this achievement clearly underlined these true rockers' reputation as Rock And Roll Royalty. Nineteen weeks on Billboard's record sales charts, Rocky not only reached Number 8 nationally in the USA with this rockabilly-flavored classic, but also had an international Top Ten hit that topped the charts as Number 1 for several weeks in Australia and other countries.

It was a fabulous beginning for a tremendous new talent in the continuing Burnette family saga. The smash single became the hit of the summer. And "The Rockman" became a favorite on American network TV shows like Dick Clark's American Bandstand; Dionne Warwick's Solid Gold, where he opened the show; The Midnight Special, where "Wolfman" Jack raved about Rocky and the great family Rock & Roll heritage; and, Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, where Rocky and his band kicked ass.

With such a great debut and wonderful album, you'd have thought Rocky was set to ride the top of the U.S. charts for a long, long time. But the most unimaginable thing happened ~ EMI America went bankrupt and "Tired Of Toein' The Line" was the only North American hit to happen off that extraordinarily great debut album. But, as it otherwise would have in the U.S., "The Son Of Rock And Roll" continued to spawn international hits. Among these international chart climbers were "Angel In Chambray," "Baby Tonight," and "Fallin' In Love," which hit Number 3 in Australia.

With the inability of EMI America to release the follow-up album, "Heart Stopper," Rocky was told that the album had been sold to entertainment giant MCA. But, instead, it came out on a new label, The Goods Records, distributed by MCA. Without proper promotion, both the album and "Heart Stopper" single went unnoticed.

A shame considering it was another great Rocky Burnette collection with such winners as "Makin' Love," "Blue Haven Cafe," "When You Were Mine" and a rendition of uncle Dorsey Burnette's classic "Hey Little One."

Despite these record company problems, Rocky still found himself performing to sell-out international audiences, a routine that continues to this day.

Rock & Roll history was made when "The Rockman" decided to do a big European "weekender" with his father's final version of The Rock'n Roll Trio ~ Paul Burlison on guitar, Johnny Black (Bill's brother) on upright bass and Tony Austin on drums. This led to other "live" appearances in Europe as they toured England, Sweden and Finland, and, the "Get Hot or Go Home!" album, followed up by more intensive European touring.

The "Get Hot Or Go Home" album had Rocky leading his dad's old band through such Trio numbers as "Tear It Up," "Oh Baby Baby," "You're Undecided" and "Drinkin' Wine Spodee Odee." In addition, they did a stripped-down version of Johnny's Top Ten "teen idol" smash, "You're Sixteen>," Rocky originals "Since My Baby's Gone" and "Got Me Itchin'," plus other favorites like "Footprints In The Snow."

Released in the United States on the progressive young Enigma label, this album was a root rock lover's dream come true. Unfortunately that label's commitment to "work with Southern California's most creative ~ and, sometimes, most controversial ~ artists" did not meet with commercial success and Rocky was again without a record company to promote his recordings in the USA. It also meant that a second, slightly more country-flavored rockabilly album recorded with The Rock'n Roll Trio remained unreleased.

Rocky's most recent album, "Tear It Up," co-produced with guitarist Zeke Zirngiebel, was rushed into release by Core Records (Englebert Humperdink's label) before any contracts were even delivered to Rocky. It quickly got two national picks then that label folded into bankruptcy such as shipments began!

But, while having continued to fry socks all these years as a premier American Rockabilly King in world wide appearances, "The Rockman" has just completed some new recordings that include several major contenders for international "crossover" hits.
